BIG NEWS!
Congratulations to SOPA Competition Group Dancers on doing a fabulous job at this years competitions. The groups won 2 platinums, several high gold, gold and silver medals. Aria Miller won the award for best performer at the Co. Dance Competition. The tap trio of Blue Note Boogie won a best overall. Recently, this same trio won 1st place in a local talent competition and will be traveling to northern California for the state finals in June.

We’d like to say congratulations to some of our amazing student teachers as well. Kendra Pearson was accepted to the summer intensive programs at both State Street Ballet in Santa Barbara and Ballet Hispanico in New York. Ballet Hispanico also gave Kendra a $600 scholarship. She will be traveling to NYC this summer with the hope of joining the student company at the end of the program. Kati Schell was accepted to Disney College. She will be moving to Anaheim this summer to take college course through Disney while gaining work experience from them as well. Taylor Murphy was one of a select few students accepted into the UCLA Drama department. Randyn Spear and Nikki Pena will be moving to LA next fall to pursue careers in dance. SOPA would like to wish all our soon to be traveling student teachers the best of luck in following their dreams!

Our teachers are a highly trained group of professionals dedicated to giving SOPA students a strong technical foundation, while creating inspiration and building self-esteem. Our goal is to train, teach and inspire young artists to follow their passions with dance whether it be as a performer, choreographer or teacher. We believe everyone has the right to dance, those that want to aspire professionally and those that are just dancing for fun. To see bios on our current staff, please go to the Teacher Page.

All students have the opportunity to participate in two annual productions. Our first is a recital held in July and second is our holiday show “A Night Before Christmas” held in December. Both programs are held at the Clark Center in Arroyo Grande.

Through out the year, students are also offered additional performance opportunities at local events and via our drama department that puts on one to two musical theater productions per year. Click on our “Upcoming Events” page to see what performances are coming soon!
